Liz Brown, Certified Instructor

Liz Brown is a certified dog trainer who sees her primary mission as setting the human – dog relationship on the right path. She believes dog training is part science, part love, and a lot of patience. Liz will bring a unique set of skills and experience to work in your home.

Lucky Dog Training is driven by a passion for dogs. While your dog is trained you will gain an understanding in the principles of animal behavior.

Liz believes that dogs are always speaking to us. Humans need to recognize these cues and communicate accordingly. Essentially, dog training is teaching people and dogs to speak the same language.

By combining the science of how dogs learn with her twelve years of experience teaching people how to understand and communicate with their canine companions, Liz has amassed a long list of successful achievements relating to the human – canine relationship.

As a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), and after training thousands of shelter dogs over the years, Liz is highly skilled at treating all behavior problems facing dogs and their guardians.

Liz is an accomplished public speaker, experienced at conducting professional training seminars for animal rescue groups and shelter organizations as well as addressing television and radio audiences on various training subjects. She has spoken about dog temperament testing, clicker training, obedience training, problem solving, animal behavior, and dog handling.

Before coming to Boulder, CO, Liz spent most of her professional career in California and New York, N.Y. In New York City Liz founded Lucky Dog Training, and in California she devoted her time to service dogs and shelter dogs. At the Rancho Coastal Humane Society, where she was Staff Behaviorist/Trainer, Liz trained kennel staff in dog handling methods and conducted temperament tests for dogs entering the shelter. She implemented canine behavior modification techniques resulting in increased adoptions.

As a Certified Service Dog Instructor at Spoke N’ Paws Assistance Dogs in San Diego, CA, Liz was responsible for selecting and training shelter dogs to become service dogs for people with disabilities.

While in San Luis Obispo, CA, Liz designed a unique program for selecting, fostering and placing shelter dogs as detection dogs. She worked with the Lompoc Police Department and Far Fetched Retrievers, a member of the California Narcotic Canine Association.
